HOW DO I SIGN UP AND WHAT DO I NEED TO GET STARTED?
Browse our "service" tab above to see if a service fits you and your pet. If you are interested in scheduling a service with us, please contact us through our "contact" tab so we can discuss your pet's needs. We also require that your pet is up to date on vaccinations, and recommend that you consult with your veterinarian about your pet increasing his/her activity level by participating in a running program. Please share with us any health issues that your pet may have.
When can you run with my dog?
We can run your dog Monday through Sunday throughout various times during the week. We are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings depending on the day. Let us know what works best for you and your pup, and we can work together to find a time that works best for your schedule.
How many dogs do you run at 1 time?
Our dog runners will only run 1 dog during a session. This allows Dogs Who Jog LLC Runners to give full attention to your pet's needs
Where do you run with my dog?
Ideally we would run your dog from your home, or we could meet at the park. If we need to drive your dog to a different location to run, we can discuss accommodations (additional charges may apply).
In regards to dog breeds, size, and age - do you have any requirements or limitations?
Dogs Who Jog LLC requires that your dog has no prior history of aggressive behavior in order to be suitable for services. We will work with any breed and any size dog that meets behavior, health, and age requirements. We do not recommend dogs under the age of 6 months to begin our running program. However, we will be available to walk dogs whose age or health condition inhibits him/her from running.
Is it okay if my dog has never run before?
Yes, of course! Our beginner program with interval training (alternating between walking and running) is the perfect intensity!
Will you run with my dog if he/she is a leash puller?
Both of my dogs are leash pullers when they walk, but the pulling is very minimal when they run. So yes, we will run leash pullers. They seem to do a lot better when they run!
Will you use a leash when you run with my dog?
Yes, it is important to use a leash as we tour public places. This is for the safety of your pet and others.
How do i prepare my dog for a run?
It is important for pets to hydrate and to avoid eating within 1 hour of the run. We also recommend that your dog has a body harness to run with, unless your dog is uncontrollable in a body harness. In this case, we have found success with a "gentle leader" harness.
Do you run in any weather condition?
Living in Michigan, we have extreme heat and extreme cold. If the weather appears too dangerous for your pet, we will cancel or shorten the session. Dogs are much more sensitive to heat than humans, and we will put your dogs safety first. We recommend scheduling morning sessions or sunset sessions when the weather is hot. In regards to the cold, dogs typically handle the cold with a lot more ease than us humans! However, we will be particularly mindful when running your dog on salted sidewalks and streets.
